Business Profile

Paul and Peter, look forward welcoming customers old and new to the recently refurbished 'The Hastings'

The Hastings is a community pub steeped in tradition. Circa 175 years ago it was purpose built as a public house, and has served that function ever since. Whilst we rang the changes earlier this year we were always mindful of the history, and customer feedback confirmed our belief that we have got the balance between the old and new just about right.
As part of our 'new' pub we hired a new Head Chef, and Peter gracefully retired from the kitchen. This has taken our food to another level, warmly received by our customers. We describe our cuisine as British with steaks, grills, fish, wagyu steak burgers and sausages taking centre stage. However that doesn't mean there isn't room to incorporate dishes inspired from further afield on our menu. We pride ourselves on using fresh and locally sourced ingredients throughout our dishes. Never resting on our laurels we continue to look at new menu ideas, with Geordie Tapas being our latest venture. In many ways it is the perfect reflection of The Hastings - a good honest local pub, serving good honest local food.

"Dining out"

"Had a lovely meal at the Hastings last Friday night. Food was very good and the staff were very friendly. There's live music on on a Friday and I don't recommend sitting by the speaker's. Still a good night out."

"Fatbrummie"

"This pub is my local and has been for 13 years but my review is totally unbiased!
Took the wife in for lunch 2 weeks ago and had to return this week to make sure the superb food wasn't a one off.
We weren't disappointed, the food was brilliant yet again and the staff gave a friendly welcome and just the right amount attention without being overbearing.
I've eaten mussels all over Europe but the ones at The Hastings are to die for (Mussel lovers get yourselves in! ) and my wife said the fish was 10/10.
Obviously the chef loves his job , evident by the food and presentation.
A huge amount of work has been done by the management to bring this pub back from the almost dead & turned it into a really nice place to go for good beer , food and brilliant entertainment. Give it a go , you won't be disappointed."

"Great value Sunday roast and excellent service"

"Having spent many a night in my misspent youth at this pub before moving to Australia I was thrilled to see that it been refurbished during a recent visit back to seaton delaval. The decor was lovely - simple and traditional. We went for Sunday roast and I was looking forward to a traditionally home cooked meal and wasn't disappointed. The Yorkshire puddings were excellent and the veggies not overlooked. The gravy was rich and tasty. The meat was slightly dry (I had beef, the kids chicken) but it was still good. Liked the fact that they did small meals - this worked well for my mother who also enjoyed her meal. Great value and a lovely experience."
